What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2016- where to get fast help

Hi there. Another post about what’s new in SOLIDWORKS 2016. Here I’ll talk about where you can get fast help. Once you launch the software, you can use the following resources to learn more about SOLIDWORKS immediately.

  • GUIDE: First of all, there is a guide that comes in both HTML and PDF format. You can get to it by going to Help > What’s New > PDF, or choosing the HTML option instead (Help > What’s New > HTML).
  • INTERACTIVE HELP: There is new interactive help in SOLIDWORKS 2016. If you click the question mark symbol with an asterisk on it, then you will get interactive help to explain an enhancement to the software.  When you click on the interactive help symbol, you’ll be taken to the appropriate section of the What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2016 manual. You enable Interactive Help by going to Help > What’s New > Interactive > Interactive What’s New. You turn it off just the same way.Below, I show you what the symbol looks like, and it appears all over the place (well, next to new menu items and the titles of new and changed property managers) when you’ve got interactive help enabled.

  • Awesomely, there are many what’s new examples included. You see the what’s new examples by going to the same Help menu: Help > What’s New > What’s New Examples. This documentation contains complete coverage of SOLIDWORKS, including information about how to use the user interface, sample projects, and other examples.
  • Finally, you can use online help! This is an ever increasing resource. It gives information about the latest changes to SOLIDWORKS, other documentation, and many many examples, tutorials, and so on. To get there, you go to Help > Online Help. Or, you can just go to the SOLIDWORKS website in the browser of your choosing. Explore the forums, the training, the support section and so on. There is a lot to choose from!

Thanks!
